Remedy

Mental health-focused mobile app designed to connect users with personalized resources, self-care tools, and professional support.

[Project Overview]

Remedy is an app that empowers individuals to take control of their mental well being through a user-centered interface that prioritizes accessibility, personalization, and evidence-based mental health strategies.

[Problem Statement]

In today's fast-paced world, many individuals struggle to manage their mental health effectively due to a lack of accessible and personalized resources. Traditional methods of finding therapists and scheduling appointments can be time-consuming and daunting, especially for those who are already feeling overwhelmed. Additionally, there is a growing need for tools that can support ongoing mental well-being, such as habit trackers, journals, and other self-help resources.

[User Research]

I conducted interviews with three individuals aged 21 to 30 who are interested in personal development and mental health. My primary goal was to identify the common problems people encounter regarding mental health management, understand how open they are about these issues, and explore the methods they use to address them. These insights were crucial in helping me grasp the target users' needs and frustrations.

I created an affinity map to visualize patterns and connections, and categorized them by motivations, pain points, and goals. I also developed a user persona to represent the target audience, followed by defining a user flow to streamline the experience start-to-finish.

[User Flow]

[Designs]

Consolidating my research findings, I sketched numerous UI components to capture what would be required following the user task flow. This was helpful when generating ideas for the layout as it allowed me to gain some perspective on the overall feel of the mobile app and responsive website.

[Wireframes]

Based on my initial sketches, I created a set of low-fidelity wireframes using Adobe XD to map out the structure of the app. Doing this helped me identify reusable patterns and visualize the overall look of the platform.

[Usability Test]

To ensure the utmost effectiveness and user-friendliness of the app, I embarked on a usability testing journey with 3 participants (via Zoom). This pivotal phase aimed to gather invaluable insights from diverse user perspectives, allowing me to refine and optimize every aspect of the app's interface and functionality. Through this process, I sought to identify pain points, uncover user preferences, and ultimately enhance the app's usability to better serve individuals seeking support for their mental well-being.

Objective

Test the ease of navigation by observing how users move through the app while following prompts.

Determine whether the onboarding questionnaire was suitable for all users.

Understand whether participants find the resources useful and if they can see themselves using them on a daily basis.

Key Findings

The general observation noticed was that the basic flow and experience of the app was straight forward and made sense to the user.

There were some areas where users felt lost or confused. Some found the questionnaire not specific enough to narrow down their search for a therapist. A few also found the appointment dates confusing as they were not associated with days of the week.

Most users had a different favourite feature from the app. This gave me assurance that every feature included has a purpose, appealed to different users, and it wasn’t a case of a dominant feature over a weaker or confusing one.

[Final Design]

I refined the UI to prioritize key features for a seamless user experience. Each screen is designed for clarity, ease of use, and visual appeal:

  • Login & Onboarding: A smooth, intuitive entry with a personalization questionnaire.

  • Browse Therapists & Schedule Appointments: A directory based on user preferences with intuitive appointment scheduling.

  • Dashboard & Manage Appointments: A centralized hub for tracking progress and modifying sessions.

  • Habit Tracker & Journal: Tools for self-improvement and personal reflection.

  • Chat: A modern, engaging messaging experience for real-time support from the therapist.
